U.S. 50 Bookends
Updated 2012.10.15
The eastern end of U.S. 50 in Ocean City, Maryland. The late Mayor Harry Kelley thought it would be fun to tell drivers how far it is to the other end of Route 50. He always had a flair for fun, like the time he secretly had an Air Force C-130 circle the beach 3 times and scare the living hell out of everyone, including the fire department, thinking it was going to ditch on the beach. Taken July, 2000 heading out of town. I'll take a better photo on my next trip through town. Then I'll stop by the Alaska Stand on 9th Street and the boards, where the local's favorite is the bacon cheesburger. | |
The western end of U.S. 50 in SaKROYmento, California taken October, 2012. Not to be outdone by those Marylanders, CalDOT answered the challenge. |
