Return to Radio Home Page
updated: 2007.01.30
I created this page because I got sick and tired of Micro$~1 Word messing up the formatting of my I-95 frequency list. Even though it is growing outdated as more and more jurisdictions move to trunked systems and other modes of communications, it is still a useful resource (the list, that is :)
This list started a long, long time ago from a dBase III file called 'stpatrol.dbf' that was circulating around various bulletin board systems (BBS) specializing in scanner and radio hobbyist topics. [Remember the good old BBS? You would dial it up with your Hayes 1200 modem and hope that the line wasn't busy so that you could get in and read the latest messages or get a file.] Over time, I converted it to a Micro$haft Word file so that I could edit it more readily. Of course, Bill Gates wants to improve my productivity so he puts all these automated widgets in my way that make my job of editing that much more difficult and time-consuming. So, I just converted the damned thing to HTML, ripped out the tons of extraneous MS tags, and use Dreamweaver to edit the table containing the data and have been happy ever since. HTML does what I want it to do, not what some mindless software house thinks it should do.
I put it up on a web site so that I would have easy access to it wherever I travel, but you might as well benefit from it. This does not attempt to be the complete list for all purposes. My list focuses on state police (highway patrol) and fire departments because those are the entities that most affect the Interstate 95 driver. Either the state police or the fire departments will be dispatched to reports of a traffic collision or other mis-hap that could delay your travel, so it behooves you to monitor them first and foremost. Unfortunately, with many jurisdictions going from their beloved high-band allocations to 800 MHz trunked systems it becomes more difficult to monitor them effectively.
If you find errors, omissions, or outdated entries, feel free to send me e-mail with the corrections using the link at the bottom, being sure to include a catchy subject line that does not look like junk mail (spam). A subject such as 'I-95 frequency list' would be good.
